St. Margaret of Scotland
An Anglo-Saxon princess raised in exile in Hungary who married Malcolm III, reformed the Scottish church, and died at Edinburgh in 1093, days after her husband fell in battle.

- FEAST DAY WARNING: the Catholic Encyclopedia article states 'the feast of St. Margaret is now observed by the whole Church on 10 June.' That is the pre-1969 date and is NOT used here. The current General Roman Calendar places her on 16 November, which is also the day she died.
- The chief narrative source is the Life written by Turgot, her own confessor and later Bishop of St Andrews, composed c. 1100-1107 — within about fifteen years of her death, by someone who knew her. This is why historicity is 'documented'.
